Shifters want to be using claws all the time, nothing else. I don't believe there are any WEAPONS that enhance claw attacks, but there is a fair amount of gear (belts, helmets, amulets, etc) and you definitely want to use those. Claws are a little weird. They count as weapons, meaning you cannot use claws and a weapon at the same time.

Those 6 armed snake demons with +4 scimitars are awesome loot bags. A bunch of the mummies have +5 sickles and those add up quick too. Be prepared to earn all of that with the boss fight.
